Hello
one and all,
It's
September! Kids are back in school! You, your
downline and your customers can all get back to your regular
routines!
This
is the time when you should be putting the final touches on your
holiday plans. So, if you haven't set your class schedule
yet, now's the time to do so.
Many
of you have asked about attending one of my live
presentations. Usually, the events are only open to the
downline of the person who hires me. In November,
though, I will have live appearances in New York and Seattle
that are open to the stamping public! More info below.
Warmest
regards,
John

Steps to Maximizing Profitability During
the Holiday Season
|
The
holiday season should be one of the most profitable for
any stamping business owner. However, there are
steps you can and should be taking NOW to get the most
out of your business through the end of the year.
Here are a few suggestions:
1.
Schedule your holiday classes TODAY - If
you haven't set your holiday class schedule yet, do
it! Not just card and scrapbook page classes,
either. Gifts, wrapping paper, gift bag and tag
classes are all very popular. Then, get it out to
your customers in your next newsletter. AND, make
sure you call them to follow up! Nothing gets
those empty seats filled like a personal phone call from
you inviting them to attend! 2.
Think about making and selling cards yourself -
There are LOTS of people in your customer base who
simply do not have the time to make their own cards for
the holidays. BUT they'd be more than willing to
pay you to do it for them. I have clients who
make, literally, thousands of dollars every holiday
season creating hand-made cards for their
customers. Just make sure you charge AT LEAST $2
per card. More if the card is more complex. 3.
Have your customers create Wish Lists - Ask
your customers to put together their Wish List and get
it back to you, along with the name, phone number and
e-mail address of the person or persons who need to buy
gifts for her. Then, YOU get in touch with those
people and share her Wish List. This is MUCH more
effective than hoping your customer will give the Wish
List to her husband herself.

Giving
Away Catalogs = More Sales & Profit!
|
As
promised last month, I wanted to share a few of the
e-mails I've received over the last couple of months
regarding my suggestion to give away the catalogs,
rather than sell them.
"I
gave a cattie to a new contact. I was told by a mutual
friend that she was interested. When I gave her the
cattie, she said, "I know this cost you..."
and I said, "I want you to see it. I'll be calling
you next week to see what you think."...She
insisted that she will be placing an order...Guarding
the cattie is...like protecting your business from your
customers."
"I
was very skeptical about giving away the catalog as you
suggested, but not anymore! Just as an experiment,
I gave the catalog to five people who did not make a
purchase last year. I told each of them I would
call within the week to see if they wanted
anything. Well, three out of the five people
placed orders! In fact, one didn't even wait until
I called her. She actually called me! I made
a few hundred dollars in sales that I wouldn't have made
otherwise! Thanks!"
"I
live in an area with several other demonstrators.
Over the last month, I've been giving the catalog away
and I realized that it really sets me apart from the
others who continue to sell it. The majority of
the people I gave the catalog to have placed orders or
committed to attend my classes. I really feel like
giving the catalog away gives me a competitive
advantage."
Congratulations
to all of you who stepped out of your comfort zones and
tried this. You'll reap the rewards all year!

Remarkable Business Ideas
by
Seth
Godin
This
book, the latest by one of my favorite authors, is a
collection of entries from Godin's blog and magazine
column.
All
of the entries won't apply everyone, but, like most of
Godin's other books, every reader takes away something.
It's
an quick, easy read. And after you read it, you
could share it with your downline.

Stamping
Business Q&A
What
Do You Think of Coupons?
I
have mixed feelings about coupons. They can be
fantastic business-builders when used correctly, but
they can also cost you money when used incorrectly.
Some
examples of coupons that cost you money:
"Buy
four packs of cardstock, get the fifth on free."
"Purchase
$100 in product, get a free background stamp."
In
both of these examples, you end up selling a lot of
product, but you make far less profit than you would if
you sold less with no discount. Remember, increased
sales are great... but why make more sales if you're
going to make less money?
If
you're going to use coupons, use coupons that reward
your customers without cutting into the majority of your
profit. Here are some examples:
"Buy
four packs of cardstock, get the fifth pack at 20%
off."
"Order
a stamp set from the Winter Mini and receive 3 cards
from my Winter Mini samples basket."
Remember,
you don't have to give away the farm in order to get
your customers to buy.

there's a question you'd like answered, or a topic you'd

me an e-mail)
