Well, the holiday season is in full swing.  You're probably noticing its a little harder to speak with your customers about workshops and recruiting.  That's normal.  Everyone is focused on the holiday.  So what do you do?  This is a great time of year to focus on the internal workings of your business and make sure that you're running at peak efficiency.  If not, fix whatever you can before the New Year.  Once January rolls around, you'll probably be too busy!

A few other things to consider for January:

  • SIMB Study Group - Although the deadline to sign up isn't until next month, I may have to close enrollment before then due to demand.  You can read more below.

  • Group Coaching - New 2006 prices go into effect on December 15th.  If you were thinking of signing up for January, and would like to be grandfathered in at the old price, see the item below for more info.

Is Multitasking Really Effective?

According to Dr. Marcel Just, neuro-psychologist and director of the Center for Cognitive Brain Imaging at Carnegie Mellon, the answer is NO!

Because we only have so much capacity, when we work on more than one thing at once, we have to split that capacity.  As a result, we're less effective at both things we're doing than if we were working on them one at a time.

So, how can you be most effective?  Some tips are below:

1.  Establish Structure! - Set up times when you work on your business ONLY.  Having these 'office hours' also means that there will be hours when you ONLY focus on your personal/family obligations, as well.

2. Prioritize! - You're probably never going to accomplish everything you have to do every day.  If you prioritize what you have to do, though, you'll get the most important things done each and every time.

3. Focus! - Just work on one thing at a time.  Do not move on to the next thing UNTIL you have finished the task you're working on!  You'll get more done seeing each task to completion than if you bounce around from task to task.

Each month, we will discuss one or two chapters of the book and go into them in much greater depth and detail.  I will also ask you to complete tasks at the end of each call.

The Study Group will begin in January and will meet on the second Monday of each month, at either Noon or 10:00 p.m. eastern (your choice) for 12 months.  If you cannot make a call, don't worry...all calls will be recorded and you will have access to them.  You will never have to miss a call!

You will also have access to me.  If you ever have a question or problem that you would like coaching on, you will be able to get in touch with me via e-mail for a timely response.

Direct Sales Grows Faster Than Retail!

.

According to the Direct Selling Association, direct sales growth over the last decade has outpaced retail sales growth!

Direct sales has nearly doubled, from $16.55 billion in 1994 to $29.55 billion in 2003 (the latest year for which figures are available).  Annual sales growth averaged 7.1% per year!

Retail sales averaged a less impressive growth of 5.4% over the same period.

And, in case you were wondering, 13.3 million people in the United States are direct sellers!
