Hello
one and all,
Hope
you're all doing well. Spring is definitely springing
around most of the country, and for many of us, that means a
season of new and wonderful things is on the horizon.
I
certainly have many new and wonderful things to tell you about
over the next month or two. You'll be noticing some new
improvements to the SIMB website as we continue to make it more
and more of a resource for you and your business.
One
of the biggest changes will be our new Samples Section,
which you can read about below.
Another
change is our new mailing address and phone number, listed at
the bottom of the newsletter. You'll still be able to
reach us at the old ones for awhile, but please make note of it.
As
always, if I can ever be of service to you in any way, please
don't hesitate to get in touch with me.
Have
a productive month!

Why
Do Customers Open Your E-mail?
|
|
For
those of you who do e-mail marketing, you may wonder why
some of your customers open your e-mail every month, and
some don't.
There
are several factors which influence a customers' choice
to open and read an e-mail. Here are the most
important ones:
-
Know
& trust the sender
59.2%
If
they don't know who you are, they're not going to open
your e-mail. Make sure you receive permission from
everyone who's on your mailing list.
-
Subject
Line
41.1%
Think
about it...your e-mail is mixed in with dozens of
others. Most people don't have time to read dozens
of e-mails, so they just pick the ones that seem most
interesting.
-
Only
open e-mails I normally receive
33.6%
It's
very important to make sure you send your e-mails on a
regular basis. If you only send out e-mails
sporadically, your recipients are less likely to read
them.
-
Previously
opened and thought valuable 30.1%
You
only get one chance to make a first impression.
Make sure your e-mail isn't just a solicitation.
Offer information that your readers will find useful,
regardless of whether they buy anything.

Send
Us Your Samples!
|
Beginning
in May, I'm adding a new Samples Section to the SIMB
website. So... I need samples!
In
addition to cataloging the samples on the website for
you to search for new project ideas, the best sample
each month will appear in this newsletter, and the
creator of that sample will receive free SIMB
merchandise!
If
you would like your sample to be considered for the
website (and the monthly prize), please do the
following:
-
Email or mail your sample to the appropriate address at
the bottom of this newsletter.
-
Include a note giving us permission to reproduce your
sample, as well as a materials list (stamps, inks, card
stock, accessories, etc.)
I
can't wait to see what you come up with!

Live
Presentations
|
We're
now taking bookings for live presentations for the
second half of 2005 and 2006!
My
presentations are designed to inform, motivate and
inspire your downline or group to define their goals and
build their business.
Unlike
many other speakers, however, my presentations are designed
exclusively for stamping professionals - not the
entire direct sales industry. I understand the
unique challenges stamping business owners face,
and I'm able to address them specifically.
I
also understand the financial difficulties stamping
business owners face and have priced my presentations
accordingly.
I
will share concrete steps everyone can take to make
their business a success - whether they just want a
self-supporting hobby, or a full-fledged stamping
business!
If
you're in charge of planning events for your downline or
group, we'd love to speak with you about our live
presentations.
For
more information about booking John for an
appearance in front of your group, send
us an e-mail, or click

The
One Thing You Need to Know - About
Great Managing, Great Leading and Sustained Individual
Success
by
Marcus
Buckingham
In 'The One Thing You Need to Know...,'
Buckingham, the author of the previously recommended
'First, Break All the Rules' actually details the three
things you need to know about managing, leading and
succeeding in your career.
It's probably information you've
received before, but Buckingham does have a way of
phrasing things to make them more effective.

I
Do If...
I'm
Having Trouble Bringing Up My Business in Casual
Conversation?
|
One of the
biggest hurdles stamping business owners face when
they're trying to recruit is how to start talking to
someone about their business without seeming too obvious
or pushy.
One of the
most effective ways to start talking about your business
with someone is to ask them what they do for a
living? They'll answer you and then (if
they're polite) ask you what YOU do for a living?
Your
answer, of course, is, "I own my own rubber stamping and
scrapbooking business."
At that
point, most people will ask you what that means exactly.
The door
is now open! Start talking about your business!
