Dear friends,

August is here and summer is more than half over.  If you feel like your and your customers' schedules have been turned upside down by school summer vacations, you can take some comfort knowing that everything will be back to normal soon!

Now may be a good time to just make sure you have all of your systems in place.  That way, come September, you're ready to hit the ground running!

I hope you enjoy this month's newsletter.  There's lots to talk about.  And remember, if I can ever be of service to you, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Warmest regards and much success,

John

New Ideas to Build Your Stamping Business!

.

I recently asked members of my Stamping Business Coaching Groups to share their favorite business-building ideas they brought back from their respective company's annual convention.  I heard dozens of good ideas.  Here are three of my favorites:

1. Stamp Your Name Tag

When someone comes to a class, camp or workshop, rather than having them write out their name tag, have them stamp it instead!  Put out an alphabet set and an inkpad.  It gets stamps in your customers' hands right away.  It gets them thinking about stamping, and helps them overcome any anxiety they might be feeling about whether or not they going to be able to stamp well.

2. Book To Look

Instead of telling your workshop attendees what you're going to give them if they book their own workshop, make it a mystery!  Have envelopes with prizes inside, and only allow them to open the envelope if they book a workshop.  What the prize is doesn't necessarily matter.  It could be a gift certificate, or it could be a free item.  The excitement and response comes from the fact that it's unknown!

3. Demo a Card Right Out of the Catalog

You company's catalog is a huge billboard for your product.  There are more examples in your catalog that you would get in a year's worth of magazines or demo books.  Reinforce what's in the catalog by demonstrating some of the exact cards and projects in it!

  • How to put together a Business Plan (a must for any business!)
  • The fundamentals of recruiting downlines and customers
  • How to overcome the unique hurdles stamping professionals face

Doors open at 9:00 a.m. and the presentation will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

The Next Free Tele-Seminar -

OPEN Q&A

On Tuesday, August 10th, at 8:00 p.m. (eastern), I'm going to open up the phones for one hour of

Open Q&A.

You can use this hour to ask me any questions you'd like about your stamping business, home-based businesses in general, coaching or any other topic you think I might be able to answer.  Come on the call to ask the question.  Stay on the call to hear the answers to everyone else's.

We only have room for 20 people on the conference call line, so registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis.  When you register, you'll receive a confirmation with the number to call.  There is a free tele-seminar.  There is no registration fee.  However, the number for the seminar is in the 620 area code and normal, long-distance charges may apply.

If you'd like to register, just send me an e-mail with your name, location and stamping company affiliation.

The Next Big Marketing Idea

by Seth Godin

The author of 'The Purple Cow' has written a new book on marketing and advertising, arguing that 'outside the box' ideas the cost little or nothing almost always bring better results than traditional, big bucks ads.

Godin is no stranger to using innovation to further your business.  Using innovation as a marketing tool may no0t seem like anything new, but the author the author presents his ideas can be uniquely compelling.

Definitely a good read for anyone looking to find new audiences for their business.

Testimonials...

I LOVE your e-book.  My sales have been great, but I just wasn't tapping into my potential and I didn't have any clear, set goals til now.

- DM, North Dakota

I carry (the SIMB Tote Bag) everywhere and the response has been great.  People will stop and ask me - what is it all about?  What is your business?  I'm thrilled because I'm a walking advertisement for my own business.  We went out to lunch and now have three more people interested in classes!

- LG, Ottawa, Ontario

Nothing really came into focus...until I bought your book.

Now...I can't SLEEP at night because I'm so GEEKED about the whole thing.  I want to work all night!  My husband has to drag me away and make me go to bed.

You may very well have saved my business.

- AW, Michigan
