Hello
one and all,
Well,
October is here. You know what that means!?... time to
start thinking about Christmas! That's right...
Christmas!
Now
is the time to roll out your holiday promotions. This can
be a very profitable time for your stamping business, but only
if you get those promotions out NOW. Most of your
customers' purchases will take place in October and November, so
put your holiday ideas in front of them today!
Lots
to talk about in this month's newsletter, but I want to
especially call your attention to a hilarious song parody
performed at a stamping event last weekend. It's down
toward the middle of the newsletter.
As
always, if I can ever be of assistance, please don't hesitate to
contact me.
Warmest
regards,
John

I'm
Not Running This Business... This
Business Is Running Me!!
|
|
One of the
most difficult aspects of a home-based business is time-management.
Many stamping business owners struggle with the notion
of getting everything done in a reasonable number of
hours.
Here are a
couple of helpful hints to address this problem:
1. Establish
boundaries - Set office hours for your
business. During the office hours, work on your
business...and nothing but your business!
When your office hours are over, devote that time to
everything else you have to do, but NOT your business!
Giving yourself this structure allows you to devote set
periods of time to every aspect of your life...without
feeling like you're ignoring something... or someone.
2. Keep
your calendar - When someone wants to book a
workshop or gathering, do you open up your calendar and
say, 'pick a day, any day!' If you do, then you're
letting your customers run your schedule. Instead
of doing that, tell your customer what days you have
open. Pick two or three. The odds are very
likely they'll take one of those days... and YOU get to
control your time.

Gotta
Book A Workshop! Ooo
ooo ooo, honey!
|
I
had the pleasure of being in Illinois this past weekend
for a live presentation.
Kicking
off this fantastic event was SU demo, Jen King, and her
husband, Brent, singing a parody of "You're The One
That I Want," from Grease.
I
asked Jen if she would allow me to reprint their lyrics
to share with all of you, and she graciously
agreed. It's somewhat business-related, but more
to the point, it really was one of the funniest things I've ever
seen!
Gotta
Book A Workshop!
(sung
to the tune of "You're The One That I Want!")
(black)
= Brent (red)
= Jen
(blue)
= both
I
see stamps,
They’re
multiplyin’
And
I’m losing control
All
those women
You’re
supplyin’
And
they just keep buyin’!
I
better stamp up!
I’m
gonna need a plan.
Got
my heart set on that cruise.
I
better stamp up!
Don’t
you understand?
I’m
gonna need some help from you.
(Nothin’
left,
Nothin’ left for me to do)
Gotta
book a workshop
Ooo,
Ooo, Ooo, honey
Gotta
get a recruit
Ooo,
Ooo, Ooo, honey
Gotta
book a workshop
Ooo,
Ooo, Ooo,
That’s
what we need
Oh,
yes indeed.
Yes,
I went
To
Convention
And
I learned what to say
Gave
my down-line some direction
I’m
on my way
You
better stamp up!
Because
you’ve gotta plan.
(I’ve
gotta plan)
Got
my heart set on that cruise.
You
better stamp up!
If
you’re gonna prove
(I
better prove)
With
you’re help, how can I lose?
(We
won’t lose)
We
can make some stamping news
Gotta
book a workshop
Ooo,
Ooo, Ooo, honey
Gotta
get a recruit
Ooo,
Ooo, Ooo, honey
Gotta
book a workshop
Ooo,
Ooo, Ooo,
That’s
what we need
Oh,
yes indeed.
(Repeat
Chorus 2 more times)
Thanks
again to Jen and Brent (a very supportive spouse and
incredibly good sport) for allowing me to share this.

Speaking
of Live Presentations...
|
I
thought I'd share some of the testimonials I received
from other attendees this past weekend:
I
gained more information on home-based business than I
received from (my stamping company).
-
SC
The
information you provided helped me with some questions I
had...I only wish my husband could have been there,
too!
-
NH
I
am thrilled to now feel like I have a sense of
direction, and, most importantly, some guidance!
-
JE
Your
presentation was TERRIFIC! And I can't wait to
start doing the things you spoke about!
-
TC
I
still have a few openings in the first half of 2006 and
am now focusing on bookings in the second half. If
you would like more information on my Live
Presentations, including my newest one, "Get On
The Phone!", select

If
you would like to discuss available dates and options,
please e-mail

The
Little Red Book of Selling -
12.5
Principles of Sales Greatness
by
Jeffrey
Gitomer
Rather than focusing on making you a
better salesperson through personal technique, The
Little Red Book focuses on making you a better
salesperson through understanding your customers and why
they buy.
The book is also written for people who
hate to read these types of books. Short chapters,
effective stories and powerful anecdotes make this a
quick, easy read.

Stamping
Business Q&A
How
Do I Maximize My Profits During The Holiday Season?
As
I mentioned on the left, this can be an incredibly
profitable time of year for stamping business
owners.
In
order to maximize your profitability, though, you have
to make sure as many people as possible see your
holiday promotions.
Only
a small percentage of your customer base will attend
your workshops and events in November and
December. To be as profitable as possible, you
have to increase the number of people your business
reaches out to.
One
of the easiest ways to accomplish this is by utilizing
your mailing list. Set up several holiday
promotions and e-mail them to your
customers.
That
way, instead of making your customers travel somewhere
in order to buy from you, they can spend their money
quickly, easily and in the comfort of their own home!
(If
there's a question you'd like answered, feel free
to
send
me an e-mail)

Testimonials... |
'Group
Coaching' has been the BEST thing I've done yet! Why? John
helps you work your business the smart way NOT the hard way. He
gives you information and accountability that helps you make better
use of your time and your resources. He has the expertise in the
stamping industry to tell you what works and what doesn't.
-
DH,
I
have referred about 100 people to you to purchase your "Get
On The Phone" CD. I researched other areas on this topic
and yours was by far the best!
- SA,
Texas
I LOVE
your new CD, 'Get
On The Phone!'
I listen to it in the car, incessantly. I especially loved the
suggestion that we don't have to have a huge block of time to make
calls...just 5 or 6 a day. That has been really helpful....and I
just booked a workshop this morning....ON THE PHONE!!!!
- DM, New
York
