New SIMB Study Group Forming This Month!

If you're looking to make this year THE year for your stamping business.  If you're trying to find a way to increase your knowledge and accountability, without spending too much money, the SIMB Study Group may be the answer.

The Study Group will meet via conference call once per month, for one hour.  

Each month, we will discuss one or two chapters of the book and go into them in much greater depth and detail.  I will also ask you to complete tasks at the end of each call.

The Study Group will begin August 21st and will meet on the third Monday of each month, at 10:00 p.m. eastern for 12 months.  If you cannot make a call, don't worry...all calls will be recorded and you will have access to them.  You will never have to miss a call!

The Problem With Discounting

I heard an interesting example of discounting recently which illustrates quite clearly the potential problem.  See if you can figure out what the problem is in the example below:

I charge $15/person for my classes and usually get 10 people to attend.  If they buy $25 in product, I waive the $15 class fee.  That way, if they don't buy anything, I make $150, but if they do buy product, I make $250!

Anybody figure out the problem?

If you charge $15/person and 10 people attend, you make $150.  BUT, if you waive the fee when people buy $25, you don't MAKE $250, you SELL $250.  You only make about $85.  That's $65 LESS!

Remember, there's a difference between MAKING a profit and SELLING product.  Unless you need to make those sales to get a big downline commission, there's no reason to sell more and make less!

Over the last month or so, I've received lots of e-mails from stamping business owners who have had great results giving away the catalog to their customers.  They're seeing increased sales, increased goodwill, AND a greater comfort level when calling customers.

Why Don't You Own Your Own Stamping Business?

 

Many of my clients ask me why, if I know so much about how to run a stamping or scrapbooking business, I'm not a demo or consultant myself?

 

The answer is... I'm too busy.  

 

I've never understood other direct sales 'coaches' and speakers who say they want to teach you how to be as successful as they are (or were) in their direct sales business.  If they're so successful, they shouldn't have time for anything else!

 

As far as I'm concerned, coaching is a full-time profession... and so is running a stamping business.  If someone has time to do both, then they're probably not as successful at either one as they would have you believe.
