Dear
Friends and Colleagues,
As
you can see from this very large foot, it won't be long
now! The baby is due in a little over a month and the pace
is frantic. I'm told it only gets more frantic.
I
hope this has been a good quarter for all of you, in both sales
AND profit. If you're thinking about finishing out your
fiscal year with a bang, or if you'd like to get up to speed for
the new year, now would be the time to consider stepping into Group
or 1-on-1
Coaching. We do have a few openings beginning in April.
As
always, if I can ever be of any assistance, please feel free to
get in touch!
Warmest
regards,
John

I'm
Going to Work!
|
What
you say about your stamping business has a very big
influence on people around you. It sends a message
to others about the way they should perceive what you
do.
So,
when it's time to work on your business, what do you
say?
"I'm
going stamping?"
"Time
to stamp?"
"I'm
going to a workshop/gathering?"
Instead
of anything like the examples above, how about this one:
"I'm
going to work."
Doesn't
that say more about your stamping business?
Isn't that what you're doing? Isn't this your job?
By
saying, "I'm going to work," you convey the
seriousness of what you're doing and you let others know
that they should take it seriously, too.

Worst
Workshop Story of the Month
|
Last
month's story about the 'rodent workshop' inspired so
many of you to send me stories about your own 'worst
workshop, ' I've decided to make it a monthly
feature. So, keep those stories coming!:
I
had a workshop in a small town about an hour away from
my home. I arrived and set up and began my workshop to
a group of about 10 very lively ladies. I kept
thinking “Wow…these ladies are hilarious!
They’re just having so much fun!” Well, it
turns out they had all been at the bingo hall all
afternoon and had come back to the hostess' house
afterwards for a few drinks before I arrived. I
use the term “few” very loosely. About halfway
through my demo, one of the ladies reached into the
crystal candy dish for a candy and after popping it in
her mouth, declared that it was “the best root beer
candy she had ever tasted!" Another lady
followed suit and reached in for a candy only to find
that the other one had taken the last root beer one.
Believe it or not…A FIGHT BROKE OUT!!
I’m talking yelling, cursing, hair pulling,
slapping…need I go on?!
The
party ended there and I drove home in a state of
shock. The hostess called me the next day and NEVER
MENTIONED A WORD ABOUT HER FRIENDS, but ordered over
$300 in product (out of guilt, I think).

Leadership
at the Point of the Bayonet
|
In
the WWII memoir, 'Beyond Band of Brothers,"
Dick Winters - leader of Easy Company, 101st Airborne,
lists his 10 Principles for Success:
-
Strive
to be a leader of character, competence, and
courage.
-
Lead
from the front. Say, "Follow Me!" and
then lead the way.
-
Stay
in top physical shape - physical stamina is the
root of mental toughness.
-
Develop
your team. If you know your people, are fair in
setting realistic goals and expectations, and lead
by example, you will develop teamwork.
-
Delegate
responsibility to your subordinates and let them
do their jobs. You can't do a good job if you don't
have a chance to use your imagination or your
creativity.
-
Anticipate
problems and prepare to overcome obstacles.
Don't wait until you get to the top of the ridge and
then make up your mind.
-
Remain
humble. Don't worry about who receives the
credit. Never let power or authority go to your
head.
-
Take
a moment of self-reflection. Look at yourself in
the mirror every night and ask yourself if you did
your best.
-
True
satisfaction comes from getting the job done.
The key to a successful leader is to earn respect -
not because of rank or position, but because you are
a leader of character.
-
Hang
Tough! - Never, ever, give up.

Stamping
Business Q&A
How
Do I Balance My Business Responsibilities With My
Personal Ones?
Two
words... time management!
Too
many stamping business owners try and do everything at
the same time. This type of 'multi-tasking' is
actually counter-productive. In order to be most
effective, follow these steps:
1.
Set up your business hours.
2.
Work only on your business during those hours (NO
multi-tasking!) 3. Do NOT work on your business outside
of your business hours. That's the time you set
aside for everything else.
4.
When working during your business hours, use a
prioritized to-do list and work on each item
one-at-a-time.
If
you can follow these steps, you'll find that you're much
more productive... getting the most out of the time you
have, rather than having to put more time into your
business!
(If
there's a question you'd like answered, or a topic you'd
like me to cover, feel free
to
send
me an e-mail)

Testimonials... |
Thank
you for all of your good ideas! I see them repeated in my company's
publications and hear them at their events (even though I don't always
find your name attached to them). You are a tremendously positive
influence!
-
MS, Indiana
Just
wanted to let you know how much your Profitability Boot Camp has helped me
turn my business around. Now that I "know my numbers",
I've decreased my expenses 88% for February. My income is roughly
the same, but I'm now in the black for this month.
We talked about how "ignorance is bliss" for many demonstrators,
but I'm really starting to feel like "knowledge is power".
Thanks for giving me some great new business tools and the confidence to
use them!
- EM, New Hampshire
