Everybody... regardless
of age... should have a mash cake on their birthday! |
Dear
Friends and Colleagues,
If they're not out already, your
kids will be on summer vacation any day now. It makes it
tough to run your stamping business the way you'd to.
Later this month, we'll be rolling out something new that might
just help you with that. In the meantime, try to keep
yourself as structured as possible. Set deadlines and
make your kids aware of them, as well as what happens next.
If they know that Mom has to work for 45 minutes and THEN we'll
go out and play, you'll find your children will be much more
agreeable than if you just tell them you "have to work."
Just a quick reminder that
Friday, June 6th is the Early Bird Deadline for the
Advanced Blogger's Boot Camp. If you haven't
signed up already, and you still want to get the discount, you
have to hurry.
Enjoy this month's
newsletter, and, as always, if I can ever be of service, please
don't hesitate to get in touch!
Warmest
regards,
John

Spending A Lot Of Time at Little League Games This
Summer?
Let Everyone In The
Stands Know That Stamping Is YOUR Business! |
Summers can be tough for
stamping business owners with children.
For many of you, kids home from school means
your work schedule goes out the window!
One of the biggest
culprits? Little League!
Whether its baseball,
soccer, hockey or anything else, most parents
end up spending a lot of time in the stands with
other parents while their kids play on the
field.
Well, here's a way to
help make that time more profitable (and
protect your face from harmful UV rays, too!)...
THE STAMPING IS MY
BUSINESS BASEBALL CAP!
|
My wife wouldn't model the cap
for me, so I went with the next best thing!
|
The high-quality cap is
made of black canvas with yellow piping on the
sides and brim. The SIMB logo is
embroidered (not ironed on) and lets everyone
know what you do for a living.
It's a great
conversation starter and a great way to promote
your business!

Have You Seen
SUDSOL Lately? |
For those of you who don't know, SUDSOL (Stampin' Up
Demonstrators Sharing On-Line) is a fantastic group of
business-minded Demos sharing their ideas and helping
one another overcome their challenges.
I'm a big fan of SUDSOL, and the
two Demos who run it, Patti and Coleen. They
provide a great service for Demos at a dirt-cheap price.
They've also recently added an
online viewing option, in addition to the regular e-mail
delivery one.
For the past couple of months, I've
been a SUDSOL member. I'm proud to say I'm the
only non-Demo member. In addition to providing
SUDSOL with exclusive content, I also extend special
discounts to SUDSOL members.
If you'd like to learn more about
SUDSOL, just click on the banner above for a free,
2-week trial.

Bad Idea of the Month
Offering Class Planner
Classes
For Less Than The
Suggested Class Fee |
This
is sort of a variation on last month's Bad Idea.
Many of you have been purchasing
class planners from
stamping business owners like
Andrea Walford. These class planners included
the suggested fee you should charge your customers for
the class.
The suggested fee is well thought
out. It's based on your projected expenses, time
invested, the market value of what you're teaching and
the profit margins you deserve to be making. In
other words, the suggested class fee is what you need
to charge in order to get paid!
So, its really
disappointing when I see these classes being advertised
on stamping business owners' blogs for a fee that is
significantly less than the suggested one!
By charging less than the suggested
fee, not only are you undercutting yourself and
giving your customers permission to pay you less than
you deserve to get paid, but you're undercutting
your fellow stamping business owners who are doing
the class for their customers, as well.
Have a little more faith in
yourselves. Believe that you're worth what
you're actually worth. You won't have to work
so hard and you'll enjoy your business a whole lot more.

Now Booking
Late 2008 and 2009
Live Presentations! |
"John
is the BEST business speaker in our profession!"
- Glenda Travelstead
The calendar is filling
up! We are now booking live presentation dates for
this Fall and Winter, as well as the rest of 2009.
All SIMB presentations
are designed to inform, motivate and inspire your
downline or group to define their goals and build their
business.
Unlike many other
speakers, however, SIMB presentations are designed
exclusively for stamping professionals - not the
entire direct sales industry. John understands the
unique challenges stamping business owners face, and
is able to address them specifically.
We also understand the
financial difficulties stamping business owners face and
have priced these presentations accordingly.
John will share concrete
steps everyone can take to make their business a success - whether they just
want a self-supporting hobby, or a full-fledged stamping
business!
If
you would like more information about booking John for an appearance in
front of your group, send
us an e-mail, or select

Sway: The Irresistible Pull of Irrational
Behavior
by
Ori and Rom Brafman
Stamping business owners consistently let their fears
get the better of them. Whether its deciding not
to call a customer because you're afraid its a bad time
of day, or not speaking to someone about the business
opportunity because you're worried they'll think you're
too pushy... fears, insecurities and other irrational
thoughts often cause you to behave in a way that's
actually detrimental to your business!
This book identifies several of
these irrational behaviors through stories and anecdotes
about others who let these behaviors get the better of
them... and suffered mightily for it! A great
cautionary tale for you to fall back on the next time
you're confronted with these thoughts.

Stamping
Business Q&A
I'm Desperate to
Qualify for My Company's Incentive Trip!
What Should I Do? |
First... stay sane!
I mention that because lots of
stamping business owners forget everything they know
about good business practices when the Incentive Trip
deadline is looming.
DON'T deeply discount your product!
If you do that, you're essentially paying for the trip
out of your own pocket. Think about it... if you
give away your commission as an incentive to get people
to buy this month, and you sell $3000, the trip just
cost you $1000.
Also, if you do a special like
that, you train your customers to expect more similar
specials in the furture. So, you lose money in the
short-term AND long-term.
The best advice I can give you if
you want to increase your sales in a short period of
time???
GET ON THE PHONE!
Call every customer you have.
The majority of them haven't placed an order with you in
six months or more, and they're the ones most likely to
spend money now.
Plus... getting on the phone
doesn't cost you anything. You won't have to give
anything away (including your salary) to achieve the
goals you want to achieve.
(If
there's a question you'd like answered, or a topic you'd
like me to cover, feel free
to
send
me an e-mail)

I wanted to let you know that I earned the
Hawaii trip in April. Thanks for your help and ideas!
- ST, Ohio
I have been running my stamping business this year without stressing
over it and my sales are up from last year. Now, I know that whatever I
put in, I will get out. WITHOUT stressing over it. I really have been
enjoying my business this year and I believe it because I have become
professional. It really helps to be in a coaching group like this to put
everything in the correct perspective!!! Thank you.
